The ADAN association
ADAN Tétouan, active since 2017, cares for stray animals, runs vaccination and sterilisation campaigns and promotes adoption, from a small refuge on the outskirts of the city: adantetouanweb.wordpress.com. It is a good first contact.
A note on SPANA
SPANA has no centre in Tetouan. Its five Moroccan centres are in Casablanca, Marrakech, Khemisset, Had Ouled Frej and Chemaia.

What the law requires since 2026
This is new, and it applies to every adoption. Law 19.25 on stray animals, published in Official Bulletin no. 7533, now requires every owner to declare their animal through the national electronic service, to have it permanently carry its identification number, and to keep an up-to-date health record. A change of owner must be declared within 24 hours.

What it costs in Tetouan
The adoption fee is modest, sometimes symbolic. It is mainly the first round of care to budget for:
- Vaccination: 200 to 400 MAD
- Sterilization, if not already done: 500 to 1,500 MAD
- Deworming and parasite treatment: 50 to 150 MAD
- First vet visit: 100 to 200 MAD
