The Ragdoll is a large, very gentle cat that relaxes in your arms. Easy to live with, it suits a first-time owner well. It carries a cardiac variant (HCM) screenable by DNA test, to check with the breeder.

Soft, relaxed, it goes limp when held (hence the name). An easy temperament.

Is a Ragdoll right for you?

Temperament is not everything: your space, your time, and the climate matter as much. Let us see if your life fits.

Common questions

Can it go out alone?

Not advised: very trusting, it is poorly wary of danger. An indoor cat with secure access suits it better.

HCM and the R820W variant: veterinary literature (digest).
